Supporting SCIGC

Main content start

As a fully independent Stanford University research center, we are actively seeking support from our alumni, partners, and friends in South Korea and around the world to make the Stanford Center at the Incheon Global Campus a long-term success, to realize our vision as a “hub that empowers world-class collaborative research, scholarship, learning, technology transfer, innovation, and engagement,” and to continue building a home for Stanford University in South Korea.

To learn more details about our exciting research vision, or for more information on supporting SCIGC during this exciting time, please e-mail the Managing Director of the Stanford Center at the Incheon Global Campus, Dr. Seung Ho Hwang (shwang76@stanford.edu).

SCIGC Supporters and Use of Funds

In addition to generous support from the South Korean government, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, and our Industrial Affiliate members, we would like to thank a number of generous donors to SCIGC who support our ongoing operations and a continued commitment to Stanford in Korea.

Funds donated to SCIGC are used for a number of important purposes related to our overall research on the construction of smart city information and communication infrastructure; technology demonstration; finance and economy; related organizations; sustainability; social equality and public policy. Our research supports the establishment of  intelligent future city systems that can detect in advance, and respond to, problems that cities suffer from, such as the gap between the rich and the disadvantaged and environmental problems.  Specifically, donated funds are used to:

  • Amplify the impact of government funding in critical areas of research related to smart city applications, urban technology innovation, and the future of Korean society.
  • Support research staff working broadly at the interface of artificial intelligence, urban systems, and sustainability of future society.
  • Support international collaboration and scholarship including hosting of workshops and conferences at SCIGC, participation of SCIGC researchers at international academic conferences, and travel of SCIGC researchers to Stanford's campus in Silicon Valley for research collaboration.
  • Support operational costs associated with SCIGC.
